Necessary documents for obtaining a patent in the name of an individual

When a brand (trademark) is patented in the name of an individual, the following documents are required:
  • Passport
Passport is the main document confirming the identity of the applicant. This is exactly what passport data is reflected in patent documents.

  • Trademarks (brand name, logo and other characters)
The name, logo or combined character, which is planned to be patented, is presented in clear view. Usually the logo is submitted in JPG or PNG format.

  • Power of attorney
It is issued to carry out the Patent process through a patent representative. The power of attorney is prepared by the patent agency and approved and signed by an individual.

Required documents for obtaining a patent in the name of a legal entity

If the brand (trademark) is formalized in the name of the company i.e. LLC, the following documents are required:
  • LLC certificate
Document confirming the state registration of the enterprise.

  • Power of attorney
On behalf of a legal entity, a patent representative is issued for the conduct of business. The power of attorney is prepared by the patent agency and signed by the head of the enterprise and certified with a seal.
